MicrobiologyThe Programme emphasises four core areasin Microbiology: medical, environmental,industrial and agriculture. Thecurriculum is designed to equip studentswith up-to-date knowledge and practicalskills, alongside soft skillsdevelopment. Each course has acompulsory practical component toprovide hands-on experience, while studyvisits to related agencies strengthenthe understanding of appliedMicrobiology. The final year courses aremostly problem-based learning.After acquiring sufficient credits,students have the opportunity to go forindustrial training and undertakeresearch studies. This gives studentsworking experience and enhances theirpractical skills. The Programme alsooffers postgraduate training by research.


This programme is a major inMicrobiology. Upon graduation,candidates will be conferred withBachelor of Science degree.“Since 1976, when the Programme firststarted, eminent Microbiologyprofessors, mostly from the UnitedKingdom have been appointed as Externalsto ensure the standard isinternationally accepted. Graduates ofthis programme have all been accepted bythe overseas universities where theyhave chosen to continue theirpostgraduate studies.
